Concordia Sagittaria was originally a Roman military colony called Julia Concordia, founded in the first half of the first century BC, at the strategic crossroads of Via Annia, between the cities of Aquileia and Altino. The town got its name from the production of arrows or sagittae, which flourished in the area at the time of the Roman empire.
